This piece is called 'Snakes and Ladders' because it has some 'snakey' bits and some 'laddery' bits. The snakey bits are mostly at the beginning and the end, but the ladders are the chords. Unfortunately, the snake wins in the end, sorry!
 
Also be prepared for unexpected changes in notes, hand crossings, positioning on the keyboard, dynamics, and articulation.
 
And one more thing ... there were certainly lots of unexpected things happening in the world when this was written!
